Soccer-inspired fashion is red-hot, and there are plenty of moments this summer that will have fans of the sport buzzing, including UEFA Euro 2024 and 2024 Copa América. With a moment to capitalize here, PONY has unearthed a shoe more than four decades old from its archive.
Arriving June 25th at 11 a.m. ET via PONY.com is the Madrid 82, which will release in unisex sizing in three colorways. The shoe, Pony explained in a statement, honors its “rich soccer heritage” and was worn by Paolo Rossi during Italy’s victory in the 1982 World Cup. It will retail for $120.
One of the colorways is predominantly black with hits of yellow and green colorway, a look that Pony said is inspired by Italy and the brand’s deep-rooted connection to the sport.” PONY will also release the shoe in a classic white and black colorway. The looks were designed using premium full-grain leather, and feature leather linings and cushioned footbeds to offer “heritage aesthetics with modern comfort.”
However, the most statement-making look of the three is one adorned with rose gold metallic uppers. This look was created with premium metallic leather, as well as leather linings and cushioned footbeds. Available in August.
